Single-track trailers , sometimes referred to as “ trailers ” or historically as “unicycle trailers”, are single-axle and single-wheel trailers for two-wheelers such as motorcycles, scooters or bicycles. There are also various models for use behind cars, which were mainly used until the 1970s, but today are mostly only found in the classic car or classic area because they (see below) do not match the 50- mm-ball trailer hitches are compatible.

General

Add-ons for transporting luggage and people have a negative effect on the handling characteristics of a two-wheeler above a certain weight. If there is a need to transport a larger amount of luggage that goes beyond the usual add-on solutions such as luggage racks and panniers, single-track hangers can solve these problems.

The trailer coupling must be designed as a universal joint so that the trailer cannot tip over.

These trailers are attached to motorcycles and cars using a trailer coupling attached to the rear. Sometimes the trailer could also be folded up when not in use.

On bicycles, they are typically attached to the seat post or to the rear wheel axle. There are single-track trailers that are approved for use on bicycles for passenger transport. These models can also have a crank drive themselves (trailer bike; trailer) and are mostly used to transport children.
