Ekkehard Klug
Ekkehard Klug (born June 3, 1956 in Kiel ) is a German politician ( FDP ) and historian . From 2009 to 2012 he was Minister for Education and Culture of Schleswig-Holstein .
Life and work
After graduating from high school in 1974, Klug did his military service and then, from 1976, studied Eastern European History, New and Middle History , Sociology and Slavic Studies at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . In 1983 he received his doctorate here as Dr. phil. with the work Das Fürstentum Tve'r (1247–1485) - Rise, Assertion and Decline . He then worked as a research assistant at the Seminar for Eastern European History at the University of Kiel , where he also completed his habilitation in 1991 .
Political party
Klug has been a member of the FDP since 1973 . From September 1989 to September 1993 he was deputy FDP state chairman in Schleswig-Holstein and in 1996 the FDP top candidate for the state elections. In the 2005 state elections, in the case of the FDP government participation, he was discussed as a possible education minister.
MP
From 1992 to 2017, Klug was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament . From 1992 to 1993 he was initially the parliamentary manager and, after the resignation of Wolfgang Kubicki, chairman of the FDP parliamentary group until the state election in 1996 . From June 1996 to October 2009 he was again Parliamentary Managing Director of the FDP parliamentary group. From 1992 to 2009 Klug belonged to the education committee of the state parliament, the European committee from 1995 to 2009; there he has been deputy chairman since 2012.
Ekkehard Klug always entered the state parliament via the state list .
From October 27, 2009, Klug was State Minister of Schleswig-Holstein for Education and Culture. With the change of government to the Albig cabinet , he lost his ministerial office on June 12, 2012.
