El-Amra ( Arabic العمرة, DMG al-ʿAmra ) is a village in Qina Governorate , Egypt . It is located at the transition from the fertile Nile valley to the Libyan desert , about 73 kilometers west of the provincial capital Qina . El-Amra is located in the Markaz Abu Tischt , the 2006 census counted 13,735 inhabitants.
The place name is mainly known in archaeological research as the name Amratien or Amra culture for the 1st Naqada culture (approx. 4500 to 3500 BC). In the vicinity are prehistoric and early historical cemeteries, where u. a. golden knife grip scales, a make-up palette with the emblem of the god Min , as well as a cylinder seal and a private sculpture of the Middle Kingdom were found.
