Elevator ( English for " elevator ") is a song by the American rapper Eminem . The song is a single from his album Relapse: Refill and was released for download on December 15, 2009, at the same time as the single Hell Breaks Loose .

content

The chorus of elevator raps Eminem on ironic about the enormous wealth he has acquired thanks to his rap music and that he would never have expected such a success. Eminem makes his wealth in the song above all from the fact that he now has his own elevator in his house. In the first verse, however, he threatens other rappers who have attacked him in the past and mentioned his daughter Hailie. The second verse begins with negative remarks about the gay musicians Lance Bass , Adam Lambert and Clay Aiken . Eminem says that the music scene has softened in the years of his absence. In the last stanza he is addressed to people who lurked in front of his house and rang his doorbell. He makes it clear to them that they should stay away from him.

“I used to sit and goof on the phone with my friend Proof
That if I went gold, I'd go right through the roof
He'd say,“ What if you went platinum? ”, I'd just laugh at him
“ That's not happening, that I can't fathom "
Eighty-some million records worldwide later
I'm living in a house with a fucking elevator"
