Elfi Graf , bourgeois: Elfriede Sepp (born November 20, 1952 in Dornbirn , Vorarlberg ) is an Austrian pop singer .
Life
Elfi Graf's musical career began with various amateur bands. She completed a classical singing course and gained her first stage experience with operetta arias and blues titles as well as appearances at talent competitions. In 1971 she won the Show Chance program . The pop singer Gus Backus then discovered her in the talent shed .
In 1974 she landed her first hit with hearts have no windows , which brought her the breakthrough in the hit business. The song has since become an evergreen and reached the top 10 in two different English versions in the USA ( Bobby Vinton "My Melody of Love") and Great Britain ( Peters & Lee "Don't stay away too long"). In what was then the GDR, the singer Gerti Möller covered the successful title. In that year she won the Golden Europe for best young singer and the Silver Bravo Otto . Other hits were It's Most Beautiful at Home (1976) and Mozartgasse 10 (1977). After that, she temporarily withdrew from show business and devoted herself to her family. Their daughter was born in 1982, but their marriage divorced in 1989.
In 1990 she took part in the German preliminary decision for the Grand Prix of Folk Music in 1990 with the song An Adam, an Apple and a Little Paradise , but only came in ninth. She also tried the song Lieber Leierkastenmann at the 1995 Grand Prix of Folk Music , this time for Austria.
To this day, Elfi Graf is always a guest at various galas. However, since then there has been no major hit. Titles like Don't forget to close your eyes while kissing or Take them but they were played on the radio. In 2009 the song You said it's love was released .
