Elfriede Czurda

Elfriede Czurda (born April 25, 1946 in Wels ) is an Austrian art historian and writer .

Life

After attending a commercial school, Elfriede Czurda worked as an office worker from 1963 to 1967, at the same time attended evening school , where she graduated in 1968 and then spent a year in London . She completed her studies in art history and archeology at the University of Salzburg and Paris in 1974. She received her doctorate in philosophy with a thesis on Eugène Fromentin . From 1972 she lived in Vienna , from 1976 as a freelance writer. From 1976 to 1981 she was editor of the Linz publishing house Edition Neue Texte . In 1980 she moved to Berlin . In 1981 she took part in the Ingeborg Bachmann Competition in Klagenfurt . In addition to her work as a writer, she has repeatedly held teaching assignments at domestic and foreign universities and organized exhibitions of her objects . She is the author of novels, short stories, poems and radio plays.

Elfriede Czurda has been a member of the Graz Authors' Assembly since 1975 , of which she was Secretary General from 1975 to 1976, since 1981 she has been a member of the Berlin New Society for Literature and since 1998 of the Association of German Writers .
