Elfriede Seppi

Elfriede Seppi b. Heering (born February 6, 1910 in Düsseldorf , † June 14, 1976 in Neuwied ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Seppi was born out of wedlock and grew up with her grandparents in Heddesdorf . After attending elementary school, she completed an apprenticeship as a retail saleswoman and later became the manager of a branch. She has been involved in the Central Association of Employees (ZdA) since 1925 and was a member of the youth union. After their wedding in 1939, she and her husband opened a steam laundry in Neuwied. However, her husband died towards the end of World War II to gangrene . Seppi then took over the management of the company until 1947. She also joined the ÖTV .

Political party

During the time of the Weimar Republic , Seppi joined the SPD. In 1953 she became chairwoman of the district women's committee of the SPD Rhineland-Hesse-Nassau.

MPs

Seppi was a city councilor in Neuwied from 1946 to 1960, where he was a member of the Welfare and Housing Commission and the Economic and Nutrition Commission. It was first elected to the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament in 1947 . In 1959 she resigned her seat in the Landtag, as she had previously been elected to the Bundestag.

Seppi was a member of the German Bundestag from October 13, 1959, when she replaced MP Oskar Munzinger , until 1972. She was always elected via the state list of the SPD in Rhineland-Palatinate . In the Bundestag she was a member of the Committee on Youth, Family, Social Affairs and Health and the Petitions Committee.

Honors

In 1970 she was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. In 1976 she was granted honorary citizenship of the city of Neuwied.
