Elio e le Storie Tese (about "Elio and the tense stories") was an Italian rock band that is best known for its humorous - satirical lyrics and their provocative and unconventional demeanor. In the 1980s, still mainly known to a younger audience, the band was able to increase their popularity enormously by participating in the Sanremo Festival for the first time in 1996 .
Band history
The band was founded in Milan at the end of the 1970s and achieved regional fame through intensive concert activities. Her first album Elio Samaga Hukapan Karijana Turu was not released until 1990, and it quickly became a classic of musica demenziale (humorous rock music). A twelve-hour performance in Milan, during which the band varied the song Ti amo without a break, also attracted attention . With the next album, the band also achieved chart success two years later; this also contained duets with Riccardo Fogli or Enrico Ruggeri . The single Pipppero® was used as a theme song of the TV show Mai dire Gol and became a hit. Further musical participations in Mai dire Gol followed , which helped Elio e le Storie Tese to grow in popularity.
In 1996 the band first took part in the Sanremo Festival . With the song La terra dei cachi , she reached second place with the Orchestra Casadei and then topped the single charts . However, allegations of fraud against the organizers of the festival led to an investigation into the Carabinieri , as a victory of the band was suspected. The band's fame continued to rise and the album Eat the Phikis also topped the charts . In 1997 the best-of album Del meglio del nostro meglio - Vol. 1 was released , followed in 1998 by the Perle ai porci collection . In the same year the band lost their musician Feiez, who suffered a stroke while performing with his jazz side project.
In 1999 the band not only recorded the new musician Jantoman and released the album Craccracriccrecr , but also received the award for Best Italian Act at the MTV Europe Music Awards . With Made in Japan , Elio e le Storie Tese released an extensive live album in 2001, the title of which parodies the Deep Purple album of the same name . A tour followed. In the 2003 album Cicciput , the band again presented various duets with Gianni Morandi , Max Pezzali and Litfiba . In 2004 there were two book publications from the ranks of the band, and the Instant CD project began : At all concerts of the year, the material recorded live was sold on CD immediately afterwards. A three-part collection emerged from the instant CDs. The project continued in 2005 and resulted in the release of a live DVD and another instant CD collection.
The next studio album Studentessi was released in 2008 and again included guest contributions by u. a. Claudio Baglioni and Irene Grandi . With Gattini , however , the band presented a collection of older songs with new orchestral arrangements the next year . An intensive concert career followed, while frontman Elio also appeared for the first time as a juror on the casting show X Factor . In 2013 the band returned to the Sanremo Festival and again came second with the song La canzone mononota ; in addition, the song received the Critics' Prize and the Prize for Best Text. Later that year, the next studio album, L'album biango , was released, which meant the band's second number one album .
Elio was again a juror for X Factor in 2015 (for the fifth time), and the year also brought several reissues of the band's older albums with it. At the Sanremo Music Festival in 2016 Elio e le Storie Tese took part once again. She ended her career by participating in the 2018 Sanremo Festival , where the group came in last.
