Elisabeth Seitz (born November 4, 1993 in Heidelberg ) is a German gymnast and two-time Olympic participant (2012, 2016). With 23 German championship titles won on various machines and in all-around competitions, she is the record champion in German artistic gymnastics.

Career

Elisabeth Seitz lived in Altlußheim and attended the Ludwig-Frank-Gymnasium in Mannheim , which she graduated from high school in 2013. She did gymnastics with TG Mannheim in the German Gymnastics League before moving to MTV Stuttgart in 2015 , with which she has been German team champion every year since . She achieved most successes on the uneven bars , in floor exercises and in all-around competitions. She has been a member of the national team of the German Gymnastics Federation and the national team since 2004 .

Seitz won her first international medal in 2011 when she became vice European champion in the all-around competition. In that year, a gymnastics element on the uneven bars was named after her. The Seitz was the first element to be named after a German gymnast after 26 years.

At the Olympic Games in London she came in sixth place on the uneven bars and tenth place in the all-around competition. In 2013 she won the overall ranking of the World Cup. At the 2015 European Games , she won the silver medal with the team. At the 2015 World Championships , Seitz posted her best World Cup placement to date with tenth place in the all-around event. In 2018 Seitz won the overall World Cup in the all-around for the second time. At the 2018 World Championships in Doha , she won her first World Championship medal with bronze on the uneven bars.

With her eighth title on the uneven bars at the German Gymnastics Championships, which were held in Berlin in 2019, Seitz won her 22nd national title, setting the 56-year-old record that was previously held by Ingrid Föst from Potsdam alone. In the all- around final of the 2019 World Championships in Stuttgart , she finished sixth with 55.999 points. For Seitz this means the best placement so far at a world championship in all-around competitions.

At the European Gymnastics Championships in April 2021 , she reached 5th place in the all-around competition. In the individual finals on the uneven bars she reached 7th place after a fall in the hunter somersault . In June 2021 Seitz won her eighth title in the all-around competition, which was also her 23rd German championship title. With this, Seitz rose to become the sole record holder in German artistic gymnastics.
