The Elliniko Olympic Hockey Center consists of two hockey stadiums and a training field. The facility was built for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens .

Geographical location

The Olympic Hockey Center is located in the Elliniko Olympic Complex , which was built on the site of the former Athens-Ellinikon Airport . The hockey facility is located 12 kilometers south of Athens city center, in the suburb of Elliniko .

Transport links

The two hockey stadiums can be reached by tram. The Elliniko stop is served by the T3 and T5 lines.

history

The Olympic Hockey Center was built for the 2004 Summer Olympics. The construction work was completed on February 29, 2004, the opening took place shortly before the games on August 11, 2004. The construction costs amounted to 11 million euros.

capacity

The hockey center consists of two stadiums. The larger one holds 7300 spectators, the smaller 2100 spectators. During the Olympic Games, however, the audience was limited to 5200 and 1200 respectively.

The Olympic Hockey Center hosted the 2004 Summer Olympics hockey competitions . During the 2004 Summer Paralympic Games , the stadium was used for soccer competitions.

Since then, the hockey stadiums have remained unused and dilapidated. The facility has not been used since 2004.
