Ely State Prison

The Ely State Prison is a prison in the US state Nevada 15 km north of Ely in White Pine County . The prison was built in two phases, the first completed in August 1989 and the second in November 1990. According to the original plan, the building complex was designed for 1,054 inmates , but the capacity has since been expanded to 1,150 inmates. The prison is classified as Maximum Security in the US prison system. The state of Nevada houses prisoners there who are sentenced to death.

The prison has a staff of 406 employees, making it one of the main employers in the structurally weak region.

The production company, which has been part of the penal system since 1991, has specialized in the manufacture of drapery . Experts in the field ensure that a high quality standard is maintained , so that even equipment for passenger trains and ocean ships is manufactured.
