Emden deep

The Emden Deep is a deep sea in the western part of the Pacific Ocean (Pacific) and with a depth of 10,400 m it is the third deepest point of the Philippines Trench .

The Emden Deep is located in the western Pacific in the center of the Philippinengraben, east of the Philippine island of Siargao and south of the Cape Johnson Depth . It is about 9 ° north latitude and 127 ° east longitude .

Until 1945, the Emden Deep was considered the deepest point of the Philippinengraben , which was determined on April 29, 1927 by the crew of the German cruiser Emden on their first voyage around the world at 10,290 m and named after this ship.
