Emil Ernst Gottfried von Herder

Emil Ernst Gottfried von Herder (born June 1, 1783 in Weimar ; † February 26, 1855 in Erlangen ) was a royal Bavarian forestry and government councilor and the sixth child of the philosopher Johann Gottfried Herder . Since his father was ennobled in 1802 , he too had the title of nobility from that date. From 1822 he was married to Luise Huber (1795–1831), the daughter of the writer couple Ludwig Ferdinand and Therese Huber .

Herder worked as a royal Baierischer Central accountant in Munich . After his retirement in 1839 he moved to Erlangen. On the occasion of the 100th birthday of his father on August 25, 1844, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Erlangen. In 1846 he published an edition of his father's work with biographical notes.

His son Ferdinand Gottfried von Herder (1828–1896) was a professor of botany in Saint Petersburg and was entitled "Imperial Russian Councilor".
