Emilio Praga

Emilio Praga (born December 18, 1839 in Milan ; † December 26, 1875 there ) was an Italian painter, writer and librettist .

Praga began his artistic career as a painter. In 1862 he made his debut as a writer with the book of poems Tavolozza and joined the Milanese artist group Scapigliatura . This was followed Penombre (1864) and Fiabe e leggende (1867), 1878, the book was published posthumously Trasparenze . He has also written several opera libretti, including Atala (composed by Giuseppe Gallignani ), Il conte di Montecristo (with Ferdinando Fontana , set to music by Raffaele Dell'Aquila ) and Maria Tudor (set to music by Antônio Carlos Gomes ). His unfinished novel Memorie del presbiterio. Scene di provincia appeared, edited by Emilio Sacchétti , 1881.
