Character description

Emily Strange is a 13 year old girl with long black hair, a black dress, black tights, Mary Jane shoes, and a very serious expression on her face. She walks through life in the company of her four black cats. Sabbath is a loner, Miles the fastest cat in town, Nee-Chee a nihilist, and Mystery is the leader of the group that has a very close relationship with Emily.

Emily's view of the world is gloomy and pessimistic. She is non-conformist and has little contact with other people and no need to change this situation. Due to the appearance of the figure, especially the typical 1950s hairstyle (such as Bettie Page ) and the girlish Mary Jane shoes, Emily items are often classified as rockabilly fashion. The great demand for the garments led to the original products of cosmic debris are difficult to obtain, are often cheaper Noname offered -copies.

The figure of Emily Strange was used illegally for advertising purposes by left-wing extremist groups and in 2005 by the right-wing extremist "girl group" of the Kameradschaft Tor in Berlin.

A similar character, who is depicted less aggressively, is the character Ruby Gloom .

A film adaptation of Emily the Strange is being planned with the participation of Mike Richardson , comic book publisher and producer of films such as Hellboy .
