The Eparchy of Saint Maron of Brooklyn ( Latin Eparchia Sancti Maroni Bruklyniensis Maronitarum ) is in the United States located eparchy of the Maronite Church , based in Brooklyn . It includes the states : North Carolina, South Carolina, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Virginia and the District of Columbia.
history
Pope Paul VI founded the Apostolic Exarchate of the United States of America with the Apostolic Constitution Cum supremi on January 10, 1966.
On November 29, 1971, the Exarchate was raised to the eparchy and took the name Eparchie Saint Maron of Detroit . On June 27, 1977 the seat was moved to Brooklyn and the current name was introduced.
The eparchy, which until then comprised the entire United States, lost part of its territory on March 12, 1994 to the newly established Our Lady of Lebanon eparchy in Los Angeles .
