Culture and sights

Basilica of St. Peter and Paul (Petersberg) (view from the southeast)
  • Hofmarktaverne : stately saddle roof building with dovetail pinnacles, 15th / 16th centuries and 19th century;
  • Großberghofen Hutter Museum
  • Parish center St. Paulus: The parish center with church service room was built in 1973 as part of the foundation of the Erdweg parish association.
  • Petersberg Basilica (Romanesque religious building, approx. 1104). On the Petersberg near Erdweg it stands as one of the oldest churches in the diocese of Munich-Freising : The Basilica of St. Peter and Paul. It is the only Romanesque building that has largely been preserved in the style of that era. The word basilica describes the type of building: a church with a raised central nave. With its clear proportions and simple construction, it is one of the most impressive creations of Romanesque architecture. For many believers from the Dachau district, it is considered the spiritual center.
  • After the Second World War, the "Petersberg" country folk high school was built next to the church. This has become an important spiritual education center for the entire diocese of Munich-Freising.

traffic

There is a train station in Erdweg, which is served by line S2 of the Munich S-Bahn at least every 60 minutes. The next motorway junction is in Sulzemoos on the A 8 .
