hardening

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The hardening is the third and final stage in the conversion of cement to cement paste in concrete or mortar . The hardening continues after solidification with a duration of 12 hours and the stiffening having a duration of one hour in the initial phase a. The hardening process marks the transition from fresh concrete to hardened concrete, as hydration is brought to an end. After 28 days, the cement stone receives its required standard strength; the hardening is not yet complete at this point and continues.

In order to achieve the required strength of the building material, careful post-treatment is necessary. Errors in post-treatment lead to the building material drying out and thus to incomplete hydration and excessive shrinkage .
