Erich Follath

Erich Follath (* 1949 in Esslingen am Neckar ) is a German journalist and non-fiction author.

Life

Follath studied German and political science at the Universities of Tübingen and Munich and received his doctorate in 1974. As a student he traveled through Syria .

Follath began his career as a journalist for Stern , for whom he also reported as a correspondent from Hong Kong and New York City . As a reporter, he witnessed the 1979 coup in Iran . In 1994 he moved to Spiegel , where he took over the management of the international department. Follath has been a diplomatic correspondent for Der Spiegel since 1997.

Follath is also the author of numerous non-fiction books, such as the bestseller The Legacy of the Dalai Lama: A God You Can Touch (2007). He is also the author of the crime novel Who Shot Jesus Christ? , which is set at the Oberammergau Passion Play .
