Erik Nash

Erik Nash (born December 21, 1959 ) is a VFX Supervisor who was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects in 2005, 2012 and 2014 .

Life

He studied at Occidental College in Los Angeles and received a Bachelor of Arts degree in visual communication . He then began working as a visual effects camera assistant at the special effects company Apogee, Inc. , where he worked on the movie Star Trek: The Movie . He then worked on various short films by Douglas Trumbull , with whom he had worked on Star Trek: The Movie .

In the early 1990s he was for a total of eight seasons in the series Spaceship Enterprise - The Next Century and Star Trek: Deep Space Nine . In 1995 he switched to Digital Domain as a specialist in visual effects . In the following years he worked in this capacity on films such as Titanic , Armageddon - The Last Judgment and Red Planet . In 2005 he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects for the film I, Robot along with John Nelson, Andrew R. Jones and Joe Letteri . In 2012 he was nominated again for Real Steel in the same category . Another nomination followed in 2014 for Iron Man 3 . He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences .
