Live and act

Ermano Maggini received his education at the Music Academy in Zurich , where he lived for forty years. As a co-founder of the Zurich Guitar School, he trained many vocational students on this instrument, as a theory and instrumental teacher also worked at other schools. Intragna remained a refuge for his compositional work.

Maggini's oeuvre , which emerged in just two decades, comprises 56 works ( song cycles , choral works , string quartets , quintets, works for solos and orchestra). Compositions were premiered by the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana under Marc Andreae , the Zurich Chamber Orchestra under Christof Escher , the Winterthur City Orchestra under Mario Venzago and the Zurich Symphony Orchestra under Jérôme Kaltenbach . Further chamber music concerts, radio and CD recordings have made many of his works accessible to a wider audience. Shortly before his death, the composer founded the Fondazione Ermano Maggini. The original manuscripts went to the Zurich Central Library in 1999 .
