Ermsleben is a district of the town of Falkenstein / Harz in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

The administrative center of the city is located in the Ermsleben district.

The city lies on the northeastern edge of the Harz Mountains . The Selke flows through the place where there are several ponds. This also includes the poplar pond .

history

Ermsleben was first mentioned in a document in 1045 under the name "Anegremislebo" as the property of Count Falkenstein. As early as 1298 the place was called "oppidum" (small town). In 1296 the probably older St. Sixtus Church, which was later structurally altered several times, is mentioned for the first time. The place received market rights in 1530.

On October 1, 1938, the community of Sinsleben was incorporated into the city of Ermsleben.

Since 1992 Ermsleben was the seat of the administrative community Falkenstein / Harz, which was converted into a town on January 1st, 2002.

Nail stone

The Ermsleben nail stone, reminiscent of a menhir , stands in front of the town hall. It has a height of about 2.3 meters. In the lower third it broke and was put back together again. Countless nails have been driven into its sides as well as into the upper flat area.
