Ernst Willner Prize

The Ernst Willner Prize is a literary prize that, in addition to the Ingeborg Bachmann Prize, is awarded annually in early summer at the live competition Days of German-Language Literature in Klagenfurt . Until 2013 it was donated by numerous German-language book publishers, since 2014 the prize money has been raised exclusively by Klagenfurt bookstore Heyn and the prize was named “Mr. Heyn's Ernst Willner Prize ”has been renamed.

This special prize of the Klagenfurt competition offered the publishers from the German-speaking area who donated it their own public relations platform. It was endowed with 7,000 euros until 2011 and has been endowed with 5,000 euros since 2012. Klagenfurt bookstore Heyn has been the sole sponsor of the award since 2014.

The award was donated in memory of Ernst Willner , one of the co-founders of the event, which has been taking place every year since 1977. He was the director of the ORF regional studio in Carinthia .
