Ernst Huberty

Ernst Huberty (born February 22, 1927 in Trier ; as Ernest Rodolphe Huberty) is a Luxembourgish sports journalist and television presenter . Huberty was the main presenter of the ARD sports show for a long time , which is why he was also called "Mister Sportschau". As a commentator, he was known for his aloof style.

Life

His father was from Luxembourg, he lived with his family in Trier and moved with them to Koblenz in 1932 . During the Second World War , Ernst Huberty was a flak helper. After the end of the war, he caught up with the Abitur. After studying philosophy and German at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and doing an internship at the Koblenzer Zeitung, he began his career in 1950 as a sports reporter for Südwestfunk in Baden-Baden . There he moderated a TV program with Sport on Monday until December 1956 .

In January 1957, Huberty moved to the WDR editorial team here and now , and from 1960 he was part of the sports department of WDR. Since it began on June 4, 1961, Huberty has hosted the ARD Sportschau, a sports program that is renowned in Germany and which he shaped with friendly objectivity and his special hairstyle (" folding parting ").

In January 1970 Huberty took over the management of the sports department (television) at WDR ("WDR-Sportchef"). In this role he invented the goal of the month in March 1971 , which was part of the program for the sports show. He had to give up his position as sports director in March 1982 because of a travel expense report with too high expenses; he was transferred to the 3rd program of the WDR . His successor was Heribert Faßbender .

In April 1991 he went as a commentator for the then still young pay-TV channel Premiere , in October 2002 he briefly helped out for a Bundesliga game on the Sat.1 sports program ran .

In the meantime, Huberty also worked as a moderator coach, initially at ZFP (ARD / ZDF training, later ARD-ZDF media academy), u. a. with Stefan Wachtel , as well as for private broadcasters (Premiere, SAT.1). He coached moderators such as Reinhold Beckmann , Johannes B. Kerner , Oliver Welke and Monica Lierhaus .

From 1960 to 1982, Huberty commented on many major sporting events as a live reporter, including the so-called “ Century Game ” Germany - Italy (June 17, 1970) in Mexico City (“ Schnellinger, of all things ”, “Müller ... Ernst Huberty is married for the second time and lives in Frechen near Cologne.
