Ernst Köpf junior (born June 24, 1968 in Augsburg ) is a former German ice hockey player and coach who played for the Cologne EC , the Düsseldorfer EG in the Bundesliga and DEL during his active time from 1985 to 2003, among others . His father Ernst Köpf senior was also a national ice hockey player.
Career
Ernst Köpf began his career as an ice hockey player at Augsburger EV , for which he was active in the 2nd League South from 1985 to 1987 . The attacker then moved to the Bundesliga club Kölner EC , with whom he became German champion straight away in the 1987/88 season . After a total of five years, he left the Domstädter in 1992 and signed with their Rhenish rival Düsseldorfer EG , with whom he again won the national championship in the 1992/93 and 1995/96 seasons . Originally, Köpf had a contract with the KEC until 1993, but due to a special passage in his contract, he switched to the traditional Düsseldorf club in the 1992/93 season. Köpf would only have had to stay with the KEC until 1993 if the then coach Hardy Nilsson had stayed. In 1996, Köpf became German champion again with Nilsson.
After Köpf ran up in the second-class 1st League South for SC Bietigheim-Bissingen in the 1997/98 season, he returned to his ex-club from Düsseldorf, which had withdrawn from the DEL for financial reasons. In the 1st Bundesliga, the left-handed shooter scored a total of 28 points in 32 games, including 13 goals. He then paused four years before he reached promotion to the league in the playoffs of the 2002/03 season with the regional league team Berlin Capitals , in which he was active as an assistant coach for the capital city team in the following season.
Ernst Köpf founded Alpha Sports GmbH in 2007, which supports professional athletes in proceedings against statutory accident insurance and finances them in advance. In July 2014, he ran for the post of Vice President Sport of the German Ice Hockey Federation (DEB).
