Ernst von Kannewurff

Erdmann Hans Ernst von Kannewurff (born January 20, 1850 on Gut Baitkowen, Lyck district ; † November 5, 1907 in Königsberg i. Pr. ) Was a German administrative lawyer in Prussia. He was district administrator in Angerburg and police chief in Königsberg.

Life

Ernst von Kannewurff was the son of Rudolf von Kannewurff (1804-1858), retired Prussian captain . D. and landlord on Baitkowen, and his wife Adelheid geb. von Wagenfeldt (1818–1884).

Kannewurff studied law at the University of Jena . In 1868 he became a member, later an honorary member, of the Corps Guestphalia Jena . As a volunteer with the East Prussian Cuirassier Regiment No. 3 , he fought in the Franco-German War . Since 1872 trainee lawyer , he became a reserve officer of his regiment, from which he resigned as Rittmeister . In Königsberg he supported the foundation of the Corps Normannia Königsberg , which awarded him the ribbon in April 1874. As a lawyer, he initially worked in agricultural administration. From 1883 to 1892 he was district administrator of the Angerburg district . There he had a dispute with the liberals , which even occupied the Prussian House of Representatives . Later, Kannewurff was a member of the government in Frankfurt (Oder) before returning to Königsberg as police chief. There he was the patron of the weapons students .

Kannewurff married Augusta Countess von der Goltz on June 15, 1900 in Partenkirchen (born March 25, 1865 at Gut Schönau, Graudenz district; † May 30, 1950 in Bethel). She was the daughter of the Prussian chamberlain, ambassador and major August Graf von der Goltz, landlord of Schönau, and Agnes von Podewils. The marriage remained childless.
