Ester Tuiksoo (born March 5, 1965 in Põlva , Estonian SSR ) is an Estonian politician .

Life

Ester Tuiksoo graduated from Põlva Middle School in 1963. Until 1990 she studied commercial economics at Tartu State University . She then worked in retail from 1990 to 1996. From 1996 to 2004 Tuiksoo was employed by the Estonian Chamber of Agriculture ( Põllumajandus-Kaubanduskoda ), of which she was chairman from 2001 to 2004. In addition, she was also politically active.

From 1994 to 2000 Tuiksoo was a member of the liberal Estonian Reform Party ( Eesti Reformierakond ) before she joined the agrarian-oriented Estonian People's Union ( Eestimaa Rahvaliit ).

From 2004 to 2005, Ester Tuiksoo held the office of Estonian Agriculture Minister in the cabinet of Prime Minister Juhan Parts and from 2005 to 2007 in the cabinet of Prime Minister Andrus Ansip . She has been a member of the Estonian Parliament ( Riigikogu ) since 2007 .

From November 12, 2010 to July 1, 2014 Tuiksoo belonged to the Estonian Center Party .
