Eugene Abele

Eugen Abele (* 1874 ; † 1951 in Bad Reichenhall ) was a German pastor and homeland researcher .

Abele worked for many years as an inspector at the Archbishop's College of Boys in Freising .

In addition to this activity, Abele dealt intensively with the history of the Freising Cathedral Hill. In 1919 he published the first guide to the Freising Cathedral . This church guide is still considered a standard work today. In 1928 he wrote a chronicle of the cathedral grammar school on the occasion of the 100th anniversary .

He spent his twilight years as a freelance pastor at the parish church of Bad Reichenhall and as a clergyman of the St. Zeno monastery .

In memory of Abeles work, the city of Freising named Abelestrasse in the north of the city after him.
