Eugene of Aichelburg
Eugen von Aichelburg (born June 24, 1852, probably in Vienna , † March 7, 1917 in St. Pölten , full name: Eugen Reichsfreiherr and hereditary-Austrian baron from and to Aichelburg on Greifenstein and Bodendorf ) was an Austrian politician and 14th mayor from St. Pölten.
Life
Eugen Freiherr von Aichelburg was probably born in Vienna in 1852 and studied Jus . He came to St. Pölten in 1881 to work in his father-in-law's notary; In 1885 he became a notary . In 1894 he was elected to the local council without belonging to any party. On February 24, 1898, he was elected mayor, apparently as a compromise candidate. At that time, he announced his resignation if a financial control of the city by the state committee was not to be lifted. Since this did not happen, he resigned on April 7th of the same year, but remained on the town council.
Aichelburg stood for the German People's Association in the Reichsrat elections in 1907 for the St. Pölten district, but was not elected.
After Otto Eybner's death , he took over the office of mayor again for a short time in 1917 until his own death. He died of a shock river and was buried at the St. Pölten main cemetery.
family
Eugen Aichelburg was part of the noble family Aichelburg and brother of Rudolf Freiherr von Aichelburg-Bichelhof . In 1880 he married Mathilde von Spaun (died in 1910), daughter of Maximilian von Spaun . The marriage had two children, Hermann (fallen in 1914) and Helene.
