Eurobowl

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Eurobowl is the final of the European Football League (EFL) in American football . The host is the German Football League International , which took it over from the European Federation of American Football (EFAF). The winner received the Ulrico Lucarelli Trophy from 1989 to 1999 , named after the former Italian association president Ulrico Lucarelli († April 27, 1990), previously the trophy was called the Golden Helmet . There has not been a challenge cup since 2000.

A total of 14 teams from seven countries have won the Eurobowl so far. The New York Lions are record winners with six Eurobowl wins. The Vienna Vikings have won the competition five times. The Swarco Raiders Tirol , the Hamburg Blue Devils and the Bergamo Lions were each successful three times . Sorted by country, Germany leads with 13 titles, followed by Austria with eight titles and Italy with four wins.

From 2012 to 2014, the final for the most important European American football title was broadcast live at club level by Eurosport 2 .

With the 2014 season , the Big6 European Football League replaced the previous competition to determine the Eurobowl winner. The Berlin Adler prevailed as the first team in this new mode and were able to celebrate their second title overall.
