Evan Rachel Wood (born September 7, 1987 in Raleigh , North Carolina ; actually Evan Rachael Wood ) is an American actress . Already active as a child actress since the mid-1990s, she became known to an international audience primarily through her award-winning leading role in the feature film Thirteen (2003). To date she has participated in over 30 film and television productions.

Life

Childhood and first film roles

As a child, Evan Rachel Wood played in the plays of her father, Ira David Wood III., Who founded an experimental theater called Theater In The Park in a park in Raleigh . Wood occurs there u. a. alongside her father, mother Sara Lynn Moore and her two older brothers Dana, who is now a musician, and Ira David Wood IV. At the age of five, she applied for the role of the child vampire Claudia in Neil Jordan's interview with a vampire . The part goes to Kirsten Dunst, who is five years her senior .

After their parents' divorce in 1996, Wood moves to Los Angeles with her mother and brother, Ira . There she gained experience as an actress on television, including appearances in the series American Gothic and Touched By An Angel . In 1998 she played the small part of Sandra Bullock's film daughter in the movie comedy Magic Sisters and took on the lead role in Timothy Hutton's directorial debut Dreams to the End of the World . In the drama, she acts alongside Kevin Bacon and Mary Stuart Masterson as a disturbed Harriet, who seeks comfort in a 30-year-old disabled man after the death of her mother. After her role as Chloe Waters in the third season of the crime drama Profiler , Wood's critically acclaimed family series Once and Again ( Once and Again to see). As a Jessie collector, she gives a face to the anorexic teenagers of America. a. Nominated for a YoungStar Award for Best Young Actress in a TV Drama Series in 2000.

Film career

In 2002, Evan Rachel Wood played in Andrew Niccol's media satire S1m0ne, the film daughter of Al Pacino and Catherine Keener , who uncovered the hoax surrounding a fictional media star. A year later she made her breakthrough in the film business with the lead role in Catherine Hardwicke's drama Thirteen . She is critically acclaimed for her portrait of the 13-year-old model student Tracy, who slips into a world of consumption , drugs and sex through her friendship with the hip classmate Evie (played by Nikki Reed ) , and in 2004 alongside such established actresses as Nicole Kidman ( On the way to Cold Mountain ) or Uma Thurman ( Kill Bill: Vol. 1 ) nominated for the Golden Globe for best leading actress in a drama .

Wood is now considered one of the most talented young actresses in Hollywood and worked on six film projects until 2006, including the dramas Down in the Valley with Edward Norton and the tragic comedy Krass with Annette Bening and Gwyneth Paltrow . In 2005 she appeared with her boyfriend Jamie Bell in the music video Wake Me Up When September Ends by the American punk rock band Green Day . In 2007 she was awarded the Chopard Trophy at the 60th Cannes Film Festival for her performance in the drama Krass (2006) . Since 2009, she was seen as the glamorous and bankrupt vampire queen Sophie Anne Leclerq in the HBO series True Blood .

Wood has played the lead role of Dolores Abernathy on the HBO series Westworld since 2016 .

In 2018 she was appointed to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences , which awards the Oscars every year.

Private life

From 2005 to 2006 Wood was in a relationship with British actor Jamie Bell , whom she met in 2005 at the Sundance Film Festival. With interruptions, Evan Rachel Wood was in a relationship with the musician Marilyn Manson until 2010 , who dedicated her to the song Heart-Shaped Glasses (2007) and also appeared in his music video. On October 30, 2012, she married Jamie Bell. On July 29, 2013, the two parents of a son. In May 2014, Wood and Bell announced their split. In 2016 she founded the band Rebel and a Basketcase with Zach Villa . In January 2017, the two announced their engagement, which they broke up in September.

Evan Rachel Wood currently lives in New York . In an interview with Marie Claire magazine , Wood talks about her bisexuality. Wood is trained in singing and dancing and holds a black belt in Taekwondo . Her hobbies include swimming , rollerblading and horse riding .

In late 2016, Wood stated in an interview that he had been sexually abused and raped several times.
