history

The parish of Hartum with the villages of Hartum, Hahlen , Holzhausen II and Nordhemmern existed since 1650. Since 1661, the families living here have been documented in church registers. The first church book was created by the pastor Johann Daniel Weddigen.

The church was built between 1889-1892 by the architect Heinrich scoop from Barkhausen , who is also the Bismarck tower on the Jakobsberg and the Evangelical Church Isselhorst designed in the neo-gothic built style. The predecessor was a church that was demolished in 1888. The oldest of three church bells still in existence today dates from 1454, the old Hartum church could have been built during this period. It was expanded in 1703, as can be seen from an inscription in the tower room today.

In 1904 Holzhausen and Nordhemmern were parish off to form their own parish. In September 2015 the two parishes of Hahlen-Hartum and Holzhausen-Nordhemmern merged to form the Evangelical-Lutheran parish of Hartum-Holzhausen. This now consists of the 3 districts of Hartum, Hahlen and Holzhausen-Nordhemmern.

Furnishing

The mechanical tower clock from 1898 is a special feature. It is one of the few clocks from this period that is still in function today. The oldest of the three bells in the tower dates from 1454.
