Ezio Flagello

Ezio Flagello (born January 28, 1931 in New York , † March 19, 2009 in Palm Bay , Florida ) was an American opera singer ( bass ).

Life

Flagello studied at the Manhattan School of Music and at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome . He specialized in the Italian subject.

He made his debut at the Empire State Festival in Ellenville in 1955 as Dulcamara in Donizetti's love potion . Flagello sang at the Metropolitan Opera in New York from 1957 to 1984. He began as a turnkey in Tosca and continued his career as Leporello in Don Giovanni , Bartolo in The Barber of Seville , Rodolfo in La sonnambula , Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor , Silva in Ernani , Wurm in Luisa Miller , Sparafucile in Rigoletto , Fra Melitone in Die Macht des Schicksals , Philipp II in Don Carlos , Pogner in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and Timur in Turandot .

Flagello has often performed successfully internationally in Vienna, Milan, Berlin, London and other cities.

In 1987 he ended his career. He was married to the writer Anna Mione , with whom he had four children. He died at his home in Palm Bay, Florida.
