Ezio Pascutti (born June 1, 1937 in Mortegliano , † January 4, 2017 in Bologna ) was an Italian football player and coach . He spent his entire professional career at FC Bologna , for which he scored 130 goals in 296 Serie A games.

Career

Ezio Pascutti began his career in 1955 with the Italian first division club FC Bologna , to which he remained loyal throughout his professional career. In 336 competitive games he scored 142 goals for FC Bologna and is third in the club's all-time goalscorer list.

On January 1, 1956, he made his Serie A debut in the away game at Lanerossi Vicenza and immediately scored his first goal. By the end of the season 1955/56 he came to 18 appearances in the top Italian league with eleven goals. In the 1958/59 season , he scored 17 goals in Serie A, which was his best goal yield in one season.

In 1961 he won the Mitropa Cup with the Rossoblù , in the 1963/64 season the greatest success of his career followed with winning the Scudetto , the Italian championship , under coach Fulvio Bernardini . In the 1960s, Pascutti held the record for most games at the start of the season in a row with a goal scoring in which he hit the opponent's goal once in the first ten games. During the 1994/95 season , however, he was surpassed by Gabriel Batistuta , who was successful in each of the first eleven games. After the 1968/69 season he ended his professional career with the Rossoblù .

National team

Pascutti was appointed for the international match against France on November 9, 1958 for the first time in the squadra Azzurra and made his debut in the senior team in the 2-2 draw against the Équipe Tricolore . After that he was not considered for the national team for over three years and completed his second mission on June 7, 1962 against Switzerland at the finals of the 1962 World Cup in Chile . The Italians failed in this tournament in the group stage. Pascutti was also appointed to the squad for the 1966 World Cup and was used in the group games, where he failed to score and the Squadra Azzurra was eliminated from the tournament again in the group stage.

In total, Pascutti completed 17 international matches and scored eight goals. He scored his first two international goals in a 2-1 friendly game against Austria , which the Italians won on November 11, 1962 in Vienna. He scored his last two goals on June 22, 1966 in a 3-0 home win for the Italians in a friendly against Argentina . On June 25, 1967, he said goodbye to the national team in the qualifier for the European Football Championship in 1968 against the selection of Romania .
