The Fährplate is a former Weser island opposite Elsfleth , which was connected to the right bank through the Weser correction . Today the area belongs to the village of Rade in the municipality of Schwanewede .

location

The Fährplate is bounded in the west by the Weser and the southern part of the right tributary of the Weser , in the east and south by the Sielgraben Hovediekshelmer coming from Hinnebeck . Only in the north of the peninsula is there a small strip of land over which the road to Harriersand also leads.

traffic

The Fährplate can only be reached via a private road in the state of Lower Saxony that is not open to public traffic. There is a motorhome parking space at the confluence of Fährplate and Inselstraße . Except for the school bus within the framework of the Bremen / Lower Saxony transport association, there is no public transport available.

level

The Fährplate gauge is the middle of the three still operated gauges on the Unterweser and is operated by the Bremerhaven Waterways and Shipping Authority. The level peak also serves as an orientation light for shipping on the Weser and marks the approach to the old arm of the Weser east of Harriersand for smaller boats.

Attractions

On a farm on the Fährplate, the owners have put together a collection of East German Trabant, Wartburg and Barkas vehicles, which are also made available to the public on special occasions.
