Welfare dictatorship

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The neologism of welfare dictatorship is an approach taken by the political scientist Konrad Jarausch to describe the character of the GDR both in terms of its emancipatory claim and in terms of its Stalinist practice. The term tries to differentiate itself from a condemnation of the GDR as an unjust state and at the same time from a transfiguration of the GDR.
