Fabricio "Fab" Paulino de Melo (born June 20, 1990 in Juiz de Fora ; † February 11, 2017 ibid) was a Brazilian basketball player . He had a m height of 2.13 and played on the position of the center .

Career

After a very successful high school time at Sagemont School in Weston (Florida) , he attended Syracuse University , where he played for two years for their college team. He was then recruited in the first round of the 2012 NBA draft in 22nd place by the Boston Celtics , who had previously selected Jared Sullinger in 21st place . For a few months he did not play actively with the Celtics, but with their farm team Maine Red Claws in the NBA Development League . There he should improve his skills and gain match practice. In February 2013 he was active again for Celtics for the first time. For the 2013/14 season he was signed by the Dallas Mavericks , but released before the start of the season.

From January 2014, Melo was under contract with the Texas Legends in the D-League and then played for various D-League clubs before returning to Brazil in 2015 and playing in the local league. He died on February 11, 2017 at the age of 26 for reasons that have not yet been clarified.
