Fabienne Liptay

Fabienne Liptay (* 1974 as Fabienne Will) is a German film scholar .

Life

Liptay studied film studies, English and theater studies at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . Thomas Koebner did her doctorate there with a thesis on fairy tales in film .

From 2000 to 2002 Liptay worked as a freelancer in the editorial team of the 3sat magazine Kulturzeit . From 2002 to 2007 she was a research assistant at the film studies seminar at the University of Mainz. There she was involved in setting up an image science research group and is a founding member of the "Image" section in the Interdisciplinary Research Center for Neurosciences (IFZN).

From October 2007 to October 2013 Liptay was junior professor for film history at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich at the Faculty of History and Art Studies at the Institute for Art History as part of the master’s degree in “Historical Art and Image Discourses” in the Bavarian Elite Network , which she took over in the 2013 winter semester she accepted a teaching position for film studies for a substitute professorship at the Institute for Theater Studies.

Liptay has been an associate professor for film studies at the University of Zurich since January 2014 .

Research focuses on image and narrative theories of film as well as historical and current interrelationships between the visual arts and media. Together with Michaela Krützen and Johannes Wende , she publishes the film-concepts magazine.

Fabienne Liptay lives and works in Zurich and is married.
