The flag march of the Swiss Army is always played when the standard is presented unfolded in front of the troops, as well as during all other ceremonies , such as B. State receptions .

When a flag is taken over and surrendered at the beginning and end of military service, the flag is carried by the commanding officer while the flag march is played.

Traditional clubs such as gymnastics, shooting and music clubs also use the flag march when handing over flags. The current version was first mentioned in the Trumpeter Ordinance of 1856.

Earlier versions

The orderly of 1799 (Batteries Helvetiques 1799) contains the first version of the flag march. The drum part already shows the main features of today's flag march. The whistler's voice is no longer available.

In the federal drum and whistle order of 1819, the flag march is further developed compared to the version of 1799. The 1819 version was noted and played by drummers and whistlers on the above-mentioned occasions until 1842.
