Federation of International Bandy
The Federation of International Bandy (FIB) is the international association in bandy sport . The association was founded in 1955 in Katrineholm, Sweden , by representatives from Sweden , Norway , Finland and the Soviet Union .
From 1957 to 2001 the association was called the International Bandy Federation (IBF) , but since this was also the abbreviation of the other sports associations, the IOC asked to change the name of the World Bandy Federation to FIB.
The first world championship was held in Helsinki in 1957 . World championships are now held annually. A world championship for women has existed since 2004 .
The president of the FIB is the Russian Boris Skrynnik , the first vice-president of the Swede Stig Bertilsson .

33 national associations currently belong to the FIB (as of February 2009). In addition to the four founding members Finland , Norway , the Soviet Union and Sweden , the Netherlands (1973), the USA (1981), Canada (1986) and Hungary (1988) became IBF members before the 1990s .
