The Federazione Italiana Sport Invernali (FISI) is the Italian winter sports association.

history

An association of Italian ski clubs was first founded in 1908 by Paolo Kind under the name Unione Ski Clubs Italiani . The first Italian championships in cross-country skiing and ski jumping took place in 1909. On October 23, 1913, the association was re-established as Federazione dello Ski , from which the Federazione Italiana dello Sci (Italian Ski Association) emerged on October 10, 1920 . Its founder and first president was Alberto Bonacossa . In addition to Nordic and Alpine skiing , the ice sports bobsleigh , figure skating and ice hockey were also integrated into the association, which is why it was renamed Federazione Italiana Sport Invernali (Italian Winter Sports Association) in 1933 . In 1946 figure skating and ice hockey separated again from the FISI, later other sports were added. The FISI belongs to the Comitato Olimpico Nazionale Italiano . Giovanni Morzenti has been its President since 2007.
