Federico Boyd

Federico Boyd (born September 24, 1851 in Panama City , † May 25, 1924 in New York City ) was the fourth President of Panama .

Boyd was a descendant of Irish-Scottish immigrants who immigrated at the time of the California gold rush . After graduating, he went into civil service. In 1903 he belonged to the revolutionary junta and, as Vice President, automatically became the new President for five days after the sudden death of President Carlos Antonio Mendoza from October 1st to 5th, 1910. His successor was Pablo Arosemena Alba .

After his resignation as president, he worked as ambassador in Germany , the Netherlands and Belgium . From 1911 to 1912 he was also Panamanian Foreign Minister. Boyd is also the father of the later 18th President Augusto Samuel Boyd .
