Fehrbelliner cavalry march

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Fehrbelliner Reitermarsch , also known as Kaiser Wilhelm March , is a cavalry march . It was composed in 1893 by the royal Prussian music director Richard Henrion as one of four fanfares marches; the other three marches were the crusader fanfare , Hie guet Brandenburg all along! and under the rafter shield . He is a regimental march of various Bundeswehr units.

Since the end of the German Empire in 1918, it has been sung as a popular hit with the line “We want our old Kaiser Wilhelm back”, and the further text “but the one with a beard, with a long beard” made it clear that the Subtext refers to Wilhelm I (1797–1888). In this context, the Fehrbelliner Reitermarsch is known as the Kaiser Wilhelm March .
