Outfield player

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Field players are players in a team sport or a party game . The term "field player" is used in team sport to distinguish between the goalkeeper and the other players who move freely in the field . This is why the term is used in sports with permanent goalkeepers such as football or handball . Field players have the task of scoring points for their team and preventing points from the opposing team.

In party games, a distinction is made between castle and field players. The castle players are primarily responsible for collecting points.

There are also differences between the various sports. In football, field players have different tasks, e.g. B. the strikers should score goals, while the defenders should mainly take the ball from the opposing attacker and bring it back to the front.

In handball, however, all six field players have the same task, e.g. B. All are in defense when the opposing team is in possession of the ball. Outfield players have to obey more rules than goalkeepers. They are only allowed to touch the ball with certain parts of the body or can only run a certain number of steps with the ball, as in handball.
