Felix Fechenbach Comprehensive School

The Felix Fechenbach Comprehensive School is an all-day school in Leopoldshöhe in the Lippe district . It emerged from a secondary school in 1977. Its catchment area is the municipality of Leopoldshöhe and the surrounding villages of Lage , Bad Salzuflen , Bielefeld and Oerlinghausen .

The school is named after Felix Fechenbach , a political poet and journalist.

history

In 1977 the Leopoldshöhe municipal council and the Ministry of Education approved the establishment and construction of the comprehensive school. On August 22, 1977, lessons began for the first time at the new comprehensive school for 269 fifth and sixth graders. The transition from secondary to comprehensive school took place in the following years. The comprehensive school was founded as the only four-class SI half-day school . All other comprehensive school projects in North Rhine-Westphalia began in eight classes and with a secondary level II. In the following years the comprehensive school expanded in many areas. Due to a lack of space and space, new extensions were approved. In addition, the upper school level was started in 1983 and began for the first time in the following year. The school has existed as an all-day school since 1991 . In 2004 the cafeteria association was founded, which takes care of the break organization.

The previous headmasters were Horst Ziebel, Hauptschule 1968 to 1977 and comprehensive school until 1980 as well as Dr. Gerfried Stanzel 1980-2007.

In August 2007, some offices were redistributed because three members of the school retired: Dr. Gerfried Stanzel (former headmaster), Friedhelm Bröker (head of department in grades 5-7) and Christel Braun (head of department in grades 8-10). Since August 2007 Uwe Scheele has been the new headmaster, who was previously the deputy headmaster, so this position had to be reassigned, which Beate Gollner is now doing. The department head of grades 5–7 is now Almuth Burkhardt-Bader. Christel Kuch is the head of department in grades 8–10.

classes

In the afternoons, there are lessons or freely selectable groups (e.g. nature photography, art). Other special subjects are social pedagogy and commercial teaching. Free afternoons are supervised free of charge. There are various offers for the lunch break (e.g. computer, sports, school library, food). There has also been a sponsorship association founded by parents since 1980 that finances various school projects.

Art project

In 2006 the 13th year took part in a nationwide competition at the Lehmbruck Museum in Duisburg . In the competition 100 Years, 100 Talents , the students of the advanced art course made various sculptures on the subject of people today and tomorrow in order to deal with the topics of beauty mania, technology and progress, among other things. Their job was to use only paper and cardboard for the design. The students selected the Babymaker work , which was awarded and exhibited. It deals with the topic of the artificial manufacture of children.

School partnerships / partner schools

The Felix-Fechenbach comprehensive school maintains school partnerships with France, Poland and Mozambique / Boroma .

With France

Since 1985, the students at Felix-Fechenbach Leopoldshöhe have been using the offer of an exchange with the "Collège Jean Moulin" in Saint Gaultier in the Indre department . This creates partnerships between the 8th grade students from Germany and the 3rd and 4th grade students from France. The duration of stay in France and Germany is about ten days for the respective students. The participants are accommodated in the host families, which gives them an insight into each other's daily routine. In addition, the students take part in the respective lessons at the partner school. At the same time, various program items take place so that the students get to know the country and the region. The school partnership has expanded into a town twinning between the two municipalities, which also organize regular meetings and visits.

In addition, the grammar school in Argenton, a neighboring town of St. Gaultier, has already accepted 11th grade students from Leopoldshöhe for a three-month exchange on several occasions.

With Myslakowice

The partnership with the Polish school from Mysłakowice has existed since January 1999. Since 2002, visits have been made as part of the school partnership. So far the visits have been a great success, thanks to Mr. Kozma, who organizes regular exchanges with the Polish pupils and the pupils of the 7th year of the FFG.

With Boroma / Mozambique

The Felix-Fechenbach comprehensive school has another school partnership with Boroma / Mozambique. This partnership has existed since 1985. The school in South-East Africa offers lessons for 6th and 7th year students. Due to the poor conditions in the country, the school in Boroma is supported by numerous donations from the FFG, e. B. through sponsor hiking days.
