Fernand Jetté

Fernand Jetté OMI (born 1921 in Sainte-Rose-de-Lavalnear ( Montreal ), † November 6, 2000 in Ottawa ) was a Canadian Oblate of the Immaculate Virgin Mary .

Fernand Jetté took his first vows in the Oblate Order in 1941, and was ordained a priest in 1947. He taught missiology at the University of Ottawa and at Saint Paul University . In 1972 he was elected Vicar General of the Congregation of the Oblates, and two years later he succeeded Richard Hanley in the office of Superior General, who had resigned from his office. He completed two terms as superior general. During his term of office the beatification of the founder of the order, St. Eugen von Mazenod and the post-conciliar revision of the statutes and rules. He died in Ottawa on November 6, 2000 after years of illness.
