Fernand Rausser

Fernand Rausser (born August 24, 1926 in Bern , † March 25, 2016 in Bolligen ; nickname Sepp ) was a Swiss photographer .

Life

Born in Bern-Bümpliz , grew up in Münchenbuchsee and Frauenfeld , Rausser completed an apprenticeship as a photographer from 1943 to 1946. After years as a journeyman in Geneva, Lausanne and Bern, he attended Hans Finsler's photography class at the Zurich School of Applied Arts in 1949 . Since then he has worked as a freelance advertising and press photographer , from 1953 with his partner Hanny Meinhardt, and also with colleagues like Kurt Blum . In 1963 he moved to Bolligen .

He has published over 40 illustrated books with photos of all genres - including photo montages , collages and cartoons - and has been awarded the prize for the most beautiful Swiss books several times. From 1949 he showed his works at numerous exhibitions. He illustrated seven Mondo picture volumes as well as the Swiss-wide cooking textbook Tiptopf . In 2003 he founded his own book publisher. He was married in second marriage since 2005.
