Fernando Express is a German hit band from Baden-Württemberg .

history

The group was founded in 1969 under the name Skippies by the forwarding agent Josef Eisenhut (married, two children), the industrial clerk Hans Olbert and Klaus Lorenz as a trio. The band performed at various festivals in the region. In the period that followed, the group was expanded to include a few musicians. In 1982 the name was changed to Fernando Express . At the end of the 1980s there were further changes to the line-up. Finally, in 1990, the trio engaged the lead singer Birgit Langer (born April 5, 1968 in Weingarten (Baden) ), who had appeared in the Rudi Carrell show as the Mandy Winter double. Since then Fernando Express has performed as a quartet and initially had numerous successes in southern Germany.

In 1991 the group reached 3rd place at the German Song Festival with their title Whispering Heart and became known nationwide. They achieved another major success in 1994 at the German Schlager Festival when their title Copacabana reached 9th place.

Klaus Lorenz left in 2009 for health reasons and was replaced by Reiner Prinz. At the end of January 2010, Birgit Langer announced that she was leaving Fernando Express after twenty years in the band in order to start a solo career. Her successor as front singer was Michaela Zondler; In June 2014, the separation occurred due to insurmountable differences. At first they made do with two substitute singers, of whom only one was used during performances. Heidi Schütz has been the new lead singer of the Fernando Express since 2015.

Fernando Express is still a regular guest in the radio charts, but has also completed numerous live events on radio and television. The group's producers included Adam Schairer (until 1992) and Jean Frankfurter (1992 to 2010). Current producers are Norbert Beyerlein and Werner Schüler.
