Fernando Rey , actually Fernando Casado Arambillet (born September 20, 1917 in A Coruña , † March 9, 1994 in Madrid ), was a Spanish actor .

Life

Fernando Rey, whose father was the Republican artillery commander Fernando Casado Veiga, studied architecture and took part in the Spanish Civil War on the Republican side . He then worked initially as an extra and later as a voice actor and actor. Rey became internationally known primarily with films by Luis Buñuel and as one of the leading actors in French Connection - Focal Point Brooklyn (1971) and the sequel French Connection II (1974).

In 1960 Rey married the Argentine actress Mabel Karr. He died of bladder cancer in Madrid in 1994 .
