Fixed line SMS refers to the use of the Short Message Service with fixed line telephones . This can involve both receipt and dispatch.

SMS gateway

The SMS is transmitted to the landline network from the SMS center:

* Telecom: from the landline or mobile network Deutsche Telekom (D1) as a voice message and in text form
* Anny Way: from the landline, from the Vodafone (D2) or O2 (E2) mobile network as a voice message and in text form
* E-Plus: from the mobile network E-Plus (E1) only as a voice message

The receipt of SMS on the Telekom landline connection can be completely blocked using the free call center number 0800-3304747. With this block, SMS are completely blocked and no longer transmitted as text and also no longer read out using SMS -to-Speech . This block can also be lifted in the same way.

You can also apply to Anny Way to completely block the SMS service on your connection. To block the landline number from receiving notifications, you can call 08003600367 from the relevant device.

Received as a voice message

For some years now, German telephone companies have made it possible to receive SMS messages with any landline telephone. The SMS-to-Speech process is used, in which the SMS is read to the recipient by a voice computer. All network operators also support the automatic conversion of English and French texts into the original language.

However, delivery attempts are only made between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. Short messages sent as voice messages from 11:01 pm to 6:59 am will not be sent to the recipient until the next morning. If the recipient cannot be reached, the system tries to deliver the message every 30 minutes for the first 2 hours and then every 60 minutes thereafter.

SMS in text form

The "Fixed line SMS as text" service is sometimes used in Germany. a. offered by Deutsche Telekom and the provider Materna ("Anny Way").
Telephone providers who do not operate their own service mostly use Anny Way. An example of this is Vodafone .
Deutsche Telekom customers can choose between Telekom and Anny Way.

requirements

  • Caller ID (CLIP function) must be activated on the connection.
  • You must have connected an SMS-capable device (telephone). It can be recognized by the fact that there is an SMS function in the menu.
  • The SMS center must be entered in the landline terminal.
  • You have to be registered with the service provider. The procedure for doing this differs depending on the telephone provider.

Deutsche Telekom:

  • SMS center: 0193010
  • Registration: Free SMS from your device with the content: ANMELD to the destination number 8888
  • Unsubscribe: free SMS from your device with the content: ABMELD to the destination number 8888

Anny Way:

  • SMS center: 09003266900 (for Voice-Over-IP connections from Telekom 00499003266900)
  • Registration: Receipt of text SMS is activated as soon as you have sent the first SMS from your device.
If the call number display (CLIP) was subsequently activated for your telephone connection, a free SMS must be sent from your end device to the destination number 2547.

reception

SMS can also be received in text form with appropriately configured SMS-capable landline telephones. This happens in a similar way to receiving SMS messages on cell phones.

To receive SMS as text, you have to register for this service, as the telephone provider cannot determine whether the end device is suitable. If there is no registration, the SMS will also be read out on devices that could receive the message as text. If it is not possible to receive SMS as a text message, the Anny Way SMS center automatically switches to voice output.

The receipt of SMS messages is free of charge.

shipping

SMS-enabled landline telephones can also be used to send SMS messages to any landline or cell phone after the "SMS as text" service has been previously registered for this connection.

Sending SMS from landline telephones is usually less convenient than from cell phones, as landline telephones usually have smaller displays and are not equipped with automatic text recognition such as T9 .

You can request a free shipping confirmation from the Telekom SMS center. To do this, the text of the SMS must begin with the confirmation code * T #.

Sending from landline to landline phones is often much cheaper than shipping to cell phones. For example, Deutsche Telekom charges 6 ct for sending from landline to landline, but 19 ct for sending to cell phones. Sending a message via Anny Way costs from € 0.09 per SMS.

Experience with 1und1
